Activities along the Garden route and places to see and visit in the area
Wilderness Village The village is a charming place to visit and there are numerous shops, bars and restaurants. Milkwood Village arts and crafts is open on Sundays when local artists sell their artwork, there are also live local performances.
Beaches along the Garden Route The 3 best swimming beaches in the area all have life guards and are top surf spots. Leentjies Klip beach is 5 minutes walk from the village and there are BBQ facilities. Victoria Bay 7km from Wilderness and is in my opinion the best beach in South Africa. Herolds Bay offers a great day at the beach, some of South Africa’s top golfers have property on the beach front.
Hiking There are about 7 short hiking trails in the wilderness area only and range from between 1 and 5 hours walk. Long hiking trails are up to 5 days and you need to take your own food with you.
Adventure tours Eden Adventure Tours is a local company that provides guided tours in the area, canoes and bicycles can also be rented
Paragliding Wilderness dunes is a well know place for paragliding. There are training schools around the Holiday Inn area.

Sight seeing Dolphin point is a lookout post along the N2 only 3km from Wilderness where dolphins and whales are spotted regularly Map of Africa has a spectacular view of the area overlooking the valleys and hills of the Outeniqua mountains. It is also a launching point for the paragliders. The Woodville Big tree is around 800 years and still going strong. The stone castles at Noetzie are build right on the beach and is one of those places you will always remember. It is situated between Knysna and Plettenberg Bay and borders the famous Pezula Estate where one of the world’s top tennis players owns a house. Zachary’s restaurant at Pezula is open for the public.
Golf in the Garden Route Some world class golf courses in the Garden Route includes Fan Court designed by Gary Player, George Country Club, the Pezula Golf course and the Oubaai Golf course by Ernie Els. They are all within 30minutes drive from Wilderness.
